When and you're in. It seems simple. It rarely is. That is the position the Baltimore Ravens are in now. Bear the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday-go to the playoffs. Lose-hope and pray that either the Browns, Colts, or Titans also lose.
The Ravens have historically struggled against the Bengals in win and you're in situations. In 2017, the Ravens were up but the Bengals had the ball. On a 4th and 12, Andy Dalton hit Tyler Boyd for a 49-yard touchdown. The Ravens messed up defensively, and it cost them a postseason run.
In 2013 in Cincinnati, the Ravens had five scenarios that would have got them into the playoffs. One of those scenarios was a Miami Dolphins loss and a Ravens win. The Dolphins lost, but so did the Ravens.
This is a different Ravens team. Joe Flacco was the starting quarterback for the Ravens for both of those games. Lamar Jackson has taken over at quarterback and he is 4-0 vs. the Bengals. The Bengals starting quarterback-Joe Burrow-went down with a major injury earlier in the year.
But, the Bengals are playing their best football right now. They are coming off of back to back wins. The last time the Bengals did that: 2018. But the Ravens have historically struggled in Cincinnati. They are a dismal 9-15 in Cincinnati.
This is a game the Ravens can’t overlook, but these teams are different then they used to be.
